Bio

My name is Mark Garrard, and I am the founder and tutor at Garrard Tutoring. I have more than seven years of tutoring and teaching experience, with a primary focus on college-level mathematics. I am an alumnus of Montana State University, where I earned both a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science and a Master's degree in Mathematics. I am now based in Philadelphia, where I continue to tutor students in mathematics both locally and remotely.

As a tutor, my personal philosophy is that true mastery of material comes not from simply learning formulas, but from understanding the reasoning behind them. I have worked with individuals at all levels of understanding and comfort with the subject matter, and tailor my tutoring style to match each individual student's needs. I strive to make my sessions a place where students feel safe to ask questions, get things wrong, and explore without judgement.
